Who knows? Do we just assume that an MPV is a 7 Seater Car ? The term MPV is an acronym for Multi Purpose Vehicle. However an MPV can also be referred to as a Multi Person Vehicle. I have found that many Car websites collate information on family cars (both 5 and 7 seaters) into one category entitled MPV.
However this does not give us a clear indication of how many seats each particular MPV has. Some have five seats (Vauxhall Meriva) and others such as the Vauxhall Zafira have seven. Here’s a nice picture of the Mazda 5 MPV. The Mazda 5 is a 7 Seater Car.

On Wikipedia the term MPV is described as a “Multi Purpose Vehicle that is a type of car also known as a minivan”. Wikipedia then goes onto describe a Compact MPV, a Mini MPV and a Mazda MPV. Hang on a minute, I find their descriptions a bit random! What is a Minivan? Is a Minvan a 7 Seater Car too?
Ah well, at least you know that on our website we list all 7 Seater Cars available to buy in the UK. You can call them an MPV if you like. It’s up to you.
