Kia Sorento – 7 Seater 4x4

The Kia Sorento is a large 7 seater 4x4 which is perfect for transporting large families who sometimes find themselves having to go off the beaten track. Unlike most 4x4s on the market, which are surprisingly poor performers off road, the Kia Sorento is a viable option when taken off road and yet still has the internal space needed to transport around large groups of people.

Kia Sorento – Servicing & 7 Year Warranty

Servicing for Kia Sorento models can be more expensive than other comparable 7 seater cars, with some first year prices being as high as £185, although prices do vary nationally. However, these potentially high servicing costs can be offset by Kia's outstanding 7 year 100,000 mile warranty, which should cover any running repairs which are needed to help keep costs down.

Kia Sorento – Emissions

The Kia Sorento comes with two engine options, a 2.5 CDRi disel engine or a 3.5 V6 petrol engine. However, due to the sky high emissions, low efficiency and low economy of the petrol engine, the 2.5 CDRi is the only option worth considering on a Kia Sorento. This diesel engine emits between 209g/km and 228g/km of CO2 depending on the gearbox options.

Kia Sorento – Car Tax Band (VED)

Kia Sorentos with a manual gearbox and a 2.5 CDRi are placed into emissions Band K, leaving them liable in 2010\2011 to £245 road tax and £550 showroom fees. The slightly less efficient automatic gearbox versions are rated into Band L, meaning there is a steep jump in costs up to £425 for road tax and £750 showroom fees.

Kia Sorento – Miles Per Gallon (MPG)

A Kia Sorento with a more efficient manual gear box will provide drivers with 36mpg combined, while those who chose the slightly less economical automatic option will be able to expect around 32mpg.

Kia Sorento – Safety Features

As standard, a Kia Sorento will come with safety features such as ABS, PAS, Isofix anchors, airbags (including side airbags) and remote locking along with items such as a CD player, air conditioning, folding rear seats and electric windows. On upgraded models, items such as Sat Nav, climate control, cruise control, parking sensors and electric seats are available.

Kia Sorento – Speed

Depending on the model and gearbox, the 2.5 CDRi will go from 0-60mph in either 11.6s or 14.1s and reach a top speed of between 105-115mpg. Despite being highly uneconomical, the petrol engine options do have a better performance by getting from 0-60mph in under 10 seconds and reaching a top speed of nearly 120mph.

Kia Sorento – Insurance Group

Depending on the model and engine, the Kia Sorento will be ranked between insurance groups 12 and 15. To obtain more Car Insurance Estimates visit our Car Insurance page for a more accurate price and a no obligation quote for your Kia Insurance.

Kia Sorento – Conclusion

Despite the Kiea Sedona's robustness and, when fitted with a 2.5 CDRi engine, economy, it does still have some nagging issues. At times the ride can be surprisingly firm for a 4x4 7 seater car, while the steering can also be unresponsive and the cabin interior a little drab. However, despite these faults, it is still a solid 4x4 7 seater car. The all new Kia Sorento is a brand new 7 Seater from the Kia range. The new Kia Sorento comes with a revolutionary 7 year warranty. No other large 7 Seater SUV offers such a guarantee.
