Since March 2001 all car tax bands are dependent upon a vehicles registration. This is the same for 7 seater cars. Car Tax Band is linked to Vehicle Emissions.
The prices in the Car Tax Table below are for cars registered after March 1st 2001. Cars registered after March 1st 2001 have either a Y prefix in the number plate or follow the 01, 51 registration pattern.
Cars with letters A to X in the number plate prefix are subject to a car tax band according to their engine size. Cars registered before March 2001 with an engine size under 1549cc are charged £130 a year (£71.50 6 months) for car tax, and cars with engines sizes over 1549cc will pay £215 a year (£118.25) for their tax disc.
